Short Bio¶
Ziyuan Yin (b. 2008), preferred name Ryan, is a composer from Chengdu, China. He attended the 2024 Interlochen Arts Camp Composition Program and the 2026 Brevard Music Center Composition Program, where his works were performed and read by students/faculty. Ziyuan has been studying composition since 2022 and piano since 2013, and currently studies with composition teacher Qi Jing and piano associate professor Jingya Sun, both of whom are faculty members of Sichuan Conservatory of Music. Ziyuan also loves media scoring, and has written, acted, filmed, and scored his own sci-fi short film. Ziyuan loves creating music with electronics, and other than music, Ziyuan also likes to do 3D CGI and some coding.

Ziyuan Yin (b. 2008), preferred name Ryan, is a composer from Chengdu, China. Since he began composing at the age of 9 in 2017, Ziyuan has also started producing electronic music at the age of 11 and has shown great interest in media scoring. Ziyuan has participated in the 2026 Berlin International Film Scoring Competition, as well as the 2023, 2024, and 2025 winter Indie Film Music Contest, where he joined the semi-finalists in both 2023 and 2025, receiving 7th and 14th place, respectively. He attended the 2024 Interlochen Arts Camp Composition Program, as well as being accepted to the 2024 and 2026 Brevard Music Center Composition Program, which he attended in 2026.
Ziyuan wrote, acted, filmed, and scored a sci-fi short film, Doom Calls, by himself. Using a green screen, props, and 3D software Blender for CGI and VFX, he created the 10-minute film on a tight budget. Ziyuan scored the film himself inside a DAW using orchestral VST libraries combined with heavy electronic instruments and effects before publishing it on YouTube in 2025.
Ziyuan's compositions were performed at the Interlochen Arts Camp 2024 Student Composer Recital, the 2026 Brevard Music Center New Songs Concert, and the 2026 Brevard Music Center New Music Concert #3. Ziyuan's orchestra piece, The Flight of Time, was read at the 2024 Interlochen Arts Camp World Youth Symphony Orchestra, and his chamber orchestra piece, Highland Birds, was read at the 2026 Brevard Music Center students. Ziyuan's work was first performed in 2017 at his former teacher's Christmas student piano concert. He has been playing the piano since age 5 and has received 1st prize for piano in the 2023 preliminary round of the Philharmonic Orchestra Macao iMusic International Festival youth category, as well as the bronze prize in the 7th "Institute Cup" Youth Piano Competition final round youth amateur open category in 2021.
Ziyuan currently studies with composition teacher Qi Jing (since 2022) and piano associate professor Jingya Sun (since 2018), both of whom are faculty members of Sichuan Conservatory of Music.
Ziyuan tutored 11 students in the May 2026 Schoolhouse.world SAT Reading & Writing Bootcamp by teaching SAT question solving. Other than composition and music production, Ziyuan also knows basic Python and Lua scripting, as well as 3D CGI in Blender.
